Google has yet again released Google Buzz, another addition to their suite of web apps and services. I am sure Twitter and Facebook aren’t all happy about this. Google is competing head to head with different companies now. We have them launch their own Google phone, the Nexus One competing particularly with the Apple Iphone in the United States; they have launched Gmail to compete with Yahoo Mail; they have launched Android to compete with Iphone OS and Windows Mobile OS to name just a few and the thing about this is that they don’t seem like they will stop anytime soon.
Thinking about all these, i thought about Google eventually starting a web/cloud hosting service to compete head to head with Rackspace, Amazon Web Services and the other big names in the cloud hosting business. They seem to be taking over anything that requires data, and web hosting is where most loads of informations are. So why wouldn’t Google go to that area? I bet if Google decides to add web/cloud hosting to their suite of web apps, Rackspace and Amazon would be their dearest enemies at heart.
In one of my previous posts i had talked about going big as a company or organization and why there should be such intention in the first place. I had found this video documentary before and just decided to share with everyone that doesn’t know what is going on on the internet.
Google is really going bigger by the day as they are adding new applications and features and i have nothing really to say here than give my readers their own right to their opinion. Please watch the video, share it with friends and discuss about what you think about this documentary which helps explain some of the moves Google is making as an internet company.
Appfund launches to fund startups focused on making apps for the ipad which was announced couple of days ago. Investments will range from $5000 to $500,000 depending on how complex and promising the app is. So if you are a developer and believe in what the ipad can do, then go ahead and apply for funding for your idea here http://appfund.com/submissions.html .
While researching some news about the much talked about Google’s Nexus One mobile phone, i stumbled upon the video of the making of the Nexus One, which you can find on the Nexus One youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/GoogleNexusOne.
Happy birthday Facebook. Facebook which started in February 04, 2004 is now 6 years old today. Really hard to believe it could grow so fast to be the second most popular website on the planet just in 6 years. Enjoy Facebook!
I haven’t really gotten my hands on the Google Nexus One phone, but from what i have heard, it is an iphone killer. I used to use an iphone before, and i know iphone is like the best phone so far just combining everything from design, to number of apps, to just it been the main icon in the mobile phone industry.
So what do you guys think? Is the Nexus One really doing any damage to the iphone in terms of reputation?
Is it just me or am i just too observant because i think there just too many startups than needed nowadays. It is becoming really crazy by the day and this is most common among web startups because they are very easy to build overnight. We now have several startups competing to offer the same exact services and competition is really fierce as everyone is trying to be heard.
It is because of this competition that we now see more and more free stuffs on the web now. Open source projects surfacing every now and then, making it even more difficult for already established businesses offering the same services charging fees. In a way this helps to reduce monopoly and forces businesses to charge the minimum they can afford to keep doors open. There is the advantage side of the huge amount of startups just as there are disadvantages, but i think people should really think and make sure they really want to start a business before starting one because what is the point in starting something several other people are doing and are doing well enough for that matter.
My advice to the entrepreneurs out there who are about to start something of their own is that they should do their research and make sure they are really fit to start the business and should weigh working for another startup with starting their own business because either may be the better thing to do.
For long i have always been unclear about why Google is so serious about their business which started off as a search engine. They are really smart, one of the few companies that would ever exist with their approach before they became the internet powerhouse now. Google had the vision, and a big dream and they kept going without looking back.
The thing most people don’t know about search engines is that they drive the whole internet. Apart from a domain name, the next only way people can find your website is through a search. Yeah, you never thought so or perhaps it sounds too obvious but if you really think deeply into that then you will understand the power of a search engine. Now with the huge number of domain names, with more bursting out every second, it only makes sense that there will be fierce competition for ranking high in searches, and this directly creates fight for advertisement. Google in this case will act as the door opener for people with websites or businesses, and the more you want your website or products to be known, the more you better be willing to spend money advertising your website or product. That is how it all link.
Ever wonder how Google is a multibillion dollar company? Well i hope you get a little idea here.
I just wanted to write a quick post about the released Apple ipad device, which was very much anticipated, is no tablet pc other than a bigger ipod touch. It is more of an internet device/ebook reader than anything else. You couldn’t even use it as a secondary computer, not to talk of trying to install Windows 7 or run Mac OS X to use as a major computing device.
I think the anticipation was more than the reality. It is high time people stopped expecting too much from Apple; they are a company just like everyone else.
There have been several different pictures claiming the real unreleased Apple tablet computer and haven seen most of these pictures and images, i am yet to see any with a keyboard at least that looks legitimate enough to think about.
I am a huge web surfer and one of a few real gadget lovers. I have had my touch on couple of mini computers out there and i think none is yet to bring out the perfect picture needed in a mini ultra mobile computer. So as much as Apple has succeeded with most of the products they have made, many changing the way the internet is been interfered with, i am really in doubt Apple will be able to deliver a cut-throat real tablet pc. In my own opinion, i believe any computing device that will be used for any intensive internet surfing needs to have a keyboard. I have seen Wacom tablets which are obviously for drawing purposes mostly and aren’t claiming nothing more, but then using a tablet pc with no keyboard for major internet use will only result in an unintentional disappointment.
My specs for an ideal tablet pc, if it really needs to be called tablet pc other than a mini computer, will be a 7inch min and 10inch max screen resolution, with extremely fast processors. A really nice (slide in/out) keyboard, just like minimizing the keyboard on a Macbook Pro, have an iphone-like touch screen experience to match using it without the keyboard. It should function like a phone, meaning you open it and it is ready to be used, not having to press start button and wait to boot. It should be made differently from a computer seating at home and should focus on the mobile aspect of surfing and entertainment. It should allow quick access to anything just like a phone does. Battery life needs to be engineered to perform more than ever experienced. Backup batteries easy to install in no more than 10 seconds, if possible. I may be pushing it, but its just what i feel is needed. Please share your thoughts.
